Zimbabwe Emeralds

Although there are now 27 locations in Zimbabwe where emeralds have been discovered, the finest quality emeralds come from the Sandawana mines. Sandawana mines, discovered in 1956, quickly establish itself as one of the best sources of gem-quality emeralds. Sandawana emeralds are usually smaller in sizes and stones over 3-carats are extremely rare and highly sought after. Most emeralds from Sandawana have a Dark Green to a Yellowish Green color.
